Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Collect and build samples to a load.
• Centrifuge samples and prepare aliquots for testing.
• Find missing specimens and print/reconcile queue lists.
• Maintain all departmental equipment and know SOPs.
• Restock supplies as needed and uphold lab safety.
• Collaborate with senior peers to learn Serology tasks.

Work Shift: 1am-9:30am Tuesday - Saturday with alternating Sundays. The Target Pay for this position is $15.96 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

Job Purpose/Overview

The Serology Lab Aide is responsible for the collection and preparation of samples to be tested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect and build samples to a load
• Centrifuge samples and make aliquots for sample testing as required.
• Find missing specimens.
• Print and reconcile queue list.
• Library all samples
• Maintain all departmental equipment
• Knowledge of lab equipment and procedures
• Awareness of quality control and calibration
• Crosstrain and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab.
• Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.
• Maintains clean and organized work area.
• Restocks supplies as needed
• Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
• Consult with senior peers on non‑complex Serology tasks to learn through experience
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required, 2- or 4-year degree in science-related field preferred.
• Prior lab experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments.
• General science background, including hematology/chemistry
• Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Solid communication skills- written and verbal
• Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written direction
• Positive, can-do attitude
• Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office

Working Conditions

• Stationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours
• Constantly operates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently
• Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
• Required to lift, move, and carry up to 50lbs
• The ability to observe details at close range
• Extended hours may be needed
• Laboratory environments with potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE
• Works under close to moderate
• Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
• A complete list of such chemicals is available from department supervision.
