Job summary

Waste Pro USA is seeking a route service driver to operate a service truck and service portable restrooms and holding tanks along designated routes. You will work under supervision, with performance reviewed during progress and at route completion through direct observation and problem discussion.

The role requires a Class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement, minimum 1 year CDL experience, and compliance with DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Must have a Class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement.
• Minimum 1 year of experience operating a heavy vehicle with CDL in past 7 years.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Understand refuse collection policies and DOT/state commercial vehicle requirements.
• Normal hearing and vision, with or without correction.
• Ability to drive a straight truck with a tanker and perform pre/post trip inspections.
• Hepatitis B vaccination required.
• Strong English communication with customers, co-workers and dispatch.

Responsibilities

• Safely drives the service truck along pre-designated routes.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports To: Route Supervisor, Route Manager or Operations Supervisor

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Operates a company service truck and driving to various locations to service/pump/clean portable restrooms or holding tanks. Work is performed under supervision and performance is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through direct observation of routes, and discussion of problems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Safely drives service truck to and from pre-designated work sites based on daily routing information in accordance with Decision Driving principles.


2. Delivers and returns portable restrooms, service portable restrooms, holding tanks, sinks, showers, etc., at various work sites by following the Company's servicing guidelines. Drains moisture trap, oil catch muffler, and maintains oil level in pump. Empty truck at pump station as needed.


3. Restock paper products, hand sanitizer, soap, etc. in units being serviced.


4. Clean interior and exterior of units, makes repairs of needed, and adds chemical solution to portable restroom units.


5. Provides Distinguishably Different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of service to customers. Exhibits a positive attitude towards company, customer and municipal goals.


6. Answers questions for customers and directs them to contact Customer Service or Dispatch for additional information.


7. Performs Daily Pre and Post Trip inspections as set forth by Waste Pro procedures and D.O.T. guidelines. Completes Safety Lane activity and DVIR daily in accordance with Waste Pro safety lane guidelines. Includes inspection under hood, check under carriage, check fluid levels and air tires.


8. Maintains clean truck and washes exterior weekly. Inspect/Clean Truck: Lift hood, inspect under the hood, walk around and check under carriage; pump gas, check fluid levels and air tires. Uses air gauge, dipstick for levels, and gas pump nozzle for gas fill.


9. Prepares, maintains, and submits required company and regulation-mandated reports and documents.


10. Performs other tasks as required -- such as, but not limited to, assisting other routes for completion, attending community events, or delivery of bins and/or carts.


11. Responsible for all persons working on vehicle during the designated route.


12. Must comply with all Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.


13. May be required to work during emergency situations.

Qualifications

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.


• Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro USA.


• Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a Class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement valid for the state in which the position works. Requires a clean driving record meeting Waste Pro driving guidelines.


• At least 1 year of previous experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL within the past 7 (seven) years.


• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.


• Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices; understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.


• Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.


• See in the normal visual range with or without correction.


• Exhibit normal range of body motion.


• Drive a straight truck with tank observing legal and defensive driving practices.


• Manipulate heavy equipment control levers.


• Follow a designated collection route or work schedule;


• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;


• Maintain written records and service responses.


• Hepatitis B vaccination required.


• Must be able to speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, dispatch and super visors, understand highway and traffic signals, and be able to make legible entries on paperwork.

Special Considerations/Physical Work Requirements:

1. Physically able to push or pull independently (unassisted) 50 pounds between 120-150 a day


2. Physically able to lift independently (unassisted) 50 pounds from the ground to waist height between 120-150 a day


3. Physically able to get up and down from the cab of a commercial motor vehicle between 120-150 a day


4. Physically able to bend at the waist and knees between 120-150 a day


5. Physically able to work 8 to 12 hours in extreme weather conditions? (heat, cold, rain and snow)

Work Environment:

Drives truck on pre-established route, manual transmission, exposure to vibration, gets in and out of the truck multiple times per day. Empties portable restrooms using pump truck. Exposure to human waste. Works in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and weather variations including heat, cold, snow, rain, wind; noise and vibrations, fumes, odors and dust.
