Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Technical Writer / Technical Editor in Roy, Utah, supporting the Sentinel program. This role focuses on writing, editing, and reviewing test plans and procedures, DIDs/CDRLs, and technical documentation to meet DoD standards.

Qualifications

  • 2 Years of experience with a Bachelors degree; 0 Years with a Masters. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Strong PC skills and proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and advanced publishing tools (Adobe FrameMaker, Acrobat, Illustrator).
  • Familiarity with Life Cycle Databases (CPLM, DOORS, CAMEO).
  • Experience interpreting SDRLs, CDRLs, DIDs.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical documentation that complies with DoD standards and complex engineering requirements.
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents.

What You’ll Get To Do:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Strong PC skills and proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and advanced publishing tools (Adobe FrameMaker, Acrobat, Illustrator)
  • Familiarity with Life Cycle Databases (CPLM, DOORS, CAMEO)
  • Experience interpreting SDRLs, CDRLs, DIDs
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical documentation that complies with DoD standards and complex engineering requirements
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certified and/or FCC Licensed with General Aviation experience (Radios/Communications)
  • Experience with USAF Flight Manual and/or Maintenance Manuals
  • 3+ years’ experience writing S1000D XML or Mil-STD-38784 SGML
  • Familiarization of Industry standards of practice writing DOD Operator technical manuals (MIL-STD-63029) or Technical Orders (MIL-DTL-7700)

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $59,600.00 - $89,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
