About the Role

Senior Principal Test Engineer supporting the Sentinel (GBSD) program, part of the Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) On Board Test Equipment (OBTE) team. Responsible for planning and executing vehicle‑level integration, test, and checkout activities for Sentinel.

Responsibilities

• Define test requirements and objectives using Systems Engineering principles.
• Develop integration and test documentation (test plans, procedures, reports).
• Prepare for and execute Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs).
• Execute the integration, test, and assembly of AVE for developmental flight testing.
• Integrate hardware from subsystem teams, interface with other element teams and system/segment level teams.
• Develop and implement testing methods and test equipment.
• Interface with software developers and systems engineers to support integration and test activities.
• Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external).
• Perform data analysis against requirements and interfaces for software builds or hardware components.
• Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, procedures, or new requirements.
• Maintain test equipment documentation and follow configuration management requirements.
• Synthesize customer contractual needs and requirements into element test solutions within schedule and cost constraints.
• Direct preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for subsystem completion.
• Coordinate integrated testing activities.
• Serve as technical lead and mentor to junior engineers on the On‑board Test Equipment Team.
• Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness of the test program.
• Perform technical analysis of complete systems and prepare comprehensive system‑level evaluations.
• Oversee supplier test activities for requirement verification and validation.

Basic Qualifications

• 8 years with a Bachelor of Science degree; 6 years with a Master’s; 4 years with a Ph.D.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance upon application, current and maintained, with ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
• Experience with development of test plans, procedures and reports (functional testing and checkout).
• Experience with software and/or hardware testing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interface with all levels of employees, management and customers.
• Team‑oriented work style.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current DoD Secret or Top Secret/SCI level security clearance, including a Single Scope Background Investigation, periodic reinvestigation, or adjudication within the last 6 years.
• Proficiency in MS Office and automated test experience (LabView, Simulink, or equivalent).
• Experience designing and setting up a Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) type test lab.
• Experience overseeing supplier execution of dynamic and thermal environmental testing.
• Experience designing, testing or handling ordnance equipment IAW RCC 319 or AIAA S‑113A.

Compensation

Primary level salary range: $111,700.00 – $167,500.00, based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions.
