Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Roy, Utah is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the MMV team. You will coordinate with suppliers, review designs, and integrate with NG IPTs to ensure requirements are met and milestones achieved.

You will lead design reviews, approve subcontract deliverables, and assess supplier readiness through qualification events. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are essential as you guide partners through the development and verification phases.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 5 years' experience (or 3 with a Master’s, 1 with a PhD).
• Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
• Experience with project/supplier management and team integration; strong MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with suppliers and review designs to ensure adherence to requirements and milestones.
• Integrate with NG IPTs to support design reviews and subcontract deliverables.
• Gauge supplier readiness to enter contractual milestones and transition to test/verification oversight.
• Lead design reviews and ensure proper documentation and attention to detail throughout the program.

Position Overview

Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for an Principal Mechanical Engineer, located in Roy, UT.

What You'll Get to Do

As a Major Maintenance Vehicles (MMV) mechanical engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating with suppliers, reviewing designs, and integrating with other NG integrated product teams to ensure adherence to, and implementation of requirements. You will actively participate in design reviews, review/approve subcontract deliverables and gauge supplier readiness to enter contractual milestones. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are critical to being successful in this position. As the suppliers move through the design phase, MMV mechanical engineers will transition to test and verification oversight to assist suppliers through a successful qualification event.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
