Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Roy, Utah is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the SDS Support Equipment team, coordinating with suppliers, reviewing designs, and integrating with NG product teams to ensure adherence to requirements. You will participate in design reviews and develop mechanical solutions, with strong attention to detail and excellent collaboration across disciplines.

The standard 9/80 schedule is offered; relocation assistance may be available, with overtime and discretionary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field.
  • 0 years (level 1) or 2 years (level 2) of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance
  • Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, Catia, Autodesk, etc.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of tools - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
  • Ability to understand and interpret requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with suppliers, review designs, and integrate with other NG teams to ensure adherence to requirements.
  • Actively participate in design reviews, research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are critical to success in this position.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer supporting the SDS Support Equipment team, you will be responsible for coordinating with suppliers, reviewing designs, and integrating with other NG integrated product teams to ensure adherence to, and implementation of requirements. You will actively participate in design reviews, research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and solutions. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are critical to being successful in this position.


The standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.


This position may be filled as an Associate Engineer (level 1) or Engineer (level 2) depending on years of experience and qualifications.


Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field

  • 0 years (level 1) or 2 years (level 2) of relevant experience

  • U.S. citizen

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance

  • Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, Catia, Autodesk, etc.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of tools - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word

  • Ability to understand and interpret requirements


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience performing mechanical design efforts on MILCON, major infrastructure/building projects, or Aerospace and Defense programs.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts

  • Exposure to missiles program requirements & with propulsion

  • Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX

  • Proficient with PDM and/or CPLM

  • Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009


Primary Level Salary Range: $59,900.00 - $89,900.00


Secondary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00


The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.


Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
