Job summary

Sensient Colors is seeking a Sensory Manager to lead and manage our sensory evaluation program, ensuring objective, repeatable assessments of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products and customer samples.

You will provide technical leadership across Quality, Applications, Manufacturing and other cross-functional teams, establish sensory standards, oversee panels, analyze data, and present insights to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food/Sensory Science or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years in sensory science or related field.
• Experience designing and implementing sensory programs and data analysis.

Sensient is growing! The Natural Color Conversion is here!! We are adding a Sensory Manager to our team. This role is responsible for leading and managing Sensient Colors sensory evaluation program and ensuring consistent, scientifically sound assessment of raw materials, in-process materials, Finished products and customer samples.

This position provides technical leadership for sensory testing and serves as a key resource for Quality, Applications, Manufacturing and other cords-functional teams. The Sensory Manager establishes sensory standards and methods, oversees sensory panels, evaluates product quality and consistency, supports investigations and customer inquiries, and develops sensory data and trends that assist in identifying and preventing product quality issues. You will be responsible for ensuring sensory evaluations are objective, repeatable, properly controlled, scientifically appropriate and aligned with product specifications and customer expectations.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage the Sensory team in delivering superior sensory expertise to support Sensient’s business, growth and customer initiatives.
• Define priorities and effectively manage project execution through standard (ASTM) sensory protocols and best practices to deliver superior insights that provide winning solutions and drive business performance.
• Ensure implementation of latest sensory methodologies including relevant statistical analysis and computerized testing protocols within the Sensory team, supervising and mentoring where appropriate.
• Work closely with the cross functional teams by providing technical leadership in sensory and consumer insights and influencing decision making in meeting business objectives.
• Lead the presentation of sensory results to effectively communicate insights to internal and external customers and stakeholders. Lead and coordinate the sensory team initiatives in training and maintaining the descriptive panel as well as common flavor language training to internal and external customers.
• Lead the presentation and promotion of Sensient Sensory capabilities to internal and external customers.
• Network with Sensory professional bodies (ASTM, SSP, IFT- Sensory and Customer Service Science Division) to promote Sensient and be current with advances in Sensory and Customer Evaluation in the industry.
• Develop and apply Sensient solutions and insights to create a competitive edge. Perform all other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree is required in Food Science, Sensory Science or other related field with emphasis in sensory required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in sensory science, food science, Sensory experience preferred.
• Proven experience and proficiency in the design and implantation of sensory programs, sensory and consumer research, statistical analysis, design of experiment and project management.
• Proficiency in Advanced Statistical Skills (binomial, beta binomial, multivariate) with proven data interpretation knowledge. Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently with some regular guidance. Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks and manage multiple and changing priorities.
• Excellent team building and supervisory skills including mentoring and coaching. Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
