Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Middletown, CT is seeking a Sensor Applications Engineer to support military, commercial and industrial engine programs. You will lead instrumentation planning, egress design and installation. As part of Engine Integrated Product Teams, you will collaborate with test engineers and requestors, oversee installs, and ensure robust instrumentation solutions.

Travel up to 10%. The role requires a STEM degree with relevant experience and the ability to obtain a Secret level security

  • Represent Instrumentation Operation while interfacing with instrumentation requestors, assembly/test engineers and other validation customers.
  • Coordinate and oversee part-level instrumentation installs during engine assembly by hourly, salary and outsource sensor applications technicians.
  • Identify improvements and resolve Engineering Standard Work issues or concerns.
  • Utilize communication, project management, and interpersonal skills to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Travel is up to 10%.

What You Will Do

Instrumentation Operations is looking for a Sensor Applications Engineer to support all Pratt & Whitney military, commercial and industrial development engine programs. Sensor Engineers design and oversee execution of all applied instrumentation tasks for test engines in three major areas: Instrumentation Planning and Egress Design, Sensor Applications and Assembly Support, and Engine Instrumentation Dress and Termination. Sensor Engineers are an integral part of the Engine Integrated Product Teams (EIPT) and must be able to handle rapidly changing requirements in a fast-paced development atmosphere. The position is in our Middletown, Connecticut facility.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor degree in STEM with 2 years of engineering experience or an AS degree in STEM with 4 years of experience.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Knowledge of pressure, temperature, strain gage and vibration sensors and/or sensor applications experience
  • Experience in development of gas turbine engines and engine part repair validation processes
  • Current U.S. Government Secret level security clearance or the ability to obtain Secret level security clearance

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
