Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to contribute to the success of our Sensing and Communications Department. Ideal candidates will have an MS or PhD and a background in subsea technology, acoustics, electronics design, sonar signal processing, autonomous systems, software, and an understanding of Navy technologies and operations. We work on exciting, technically‑challenging, research and development programs where multidisciplinary teams address challenging national security needs. This position will allow applicants to collaborate with subject matter experts across the company as well as both lead and/or make meaningful contributions to project teams and their objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Support design and development of complex undersea acoustic systems
  • Support development and execution of a number of ongoing and future programs pertaining to areas of innovative maritime systems
  • Support cross‑functional teams to address complex system design challenges, while satisfying rigorous design requirements
  • Support the design and execution of at‑sea experiments
Qualifications
  • Required:
  • An MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience supporting and partnering with senior technical staff to develop innovative technology solutions that meet customer/user needs
  • Ability to technically contribute to and lead a variety of complex technical tasks at a detailed level
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills with project managers, IPT leads, and customers
  • Experience with the design or use of acoustic communication systems
  • Working knowledge of digital and analog circuits
  • Rigorous understanding and application of fundamental physics and mathematics principles
  • Desired:
  • Experience successfully managing multiple multidisciplinary technical programs, including scheduling, budgeting, resource coordination, and accountability for deliverables
  • Experience with US Navy undersea warfare leadership and operations
  • Experience contributing to and leading programs through various stages along the technology lifecycle, from science and technology to research, development and deployment
  • Experience designing complex undersea systems with custom PCBs, embedded software, and data acquisition, and signal processing
  • 1 or more years experience developing and/or designing communications systems for wireless and/or underwater applications

Compensation
