Job summary

City of Coral Gables is seeking a professional to lead the Planning and Zoning Division, focusing on zoning review and coordination with architectural quality. The role emphasizes customer service in the building permit process and requires initiative under the Development Services Director or designee.

Required are five years in Architecture with zoning exposure and three years of managerial/supervisory experience; a Florida driver’s license is a must.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in Architecture with emphasis on zoning compliance.
• Three years of managerial and supervisory experience.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Assist with administration and management of zoning team members and activities.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to enforcement of zoning laws and building permit zoning review.
• Perform impact fee calculations for building permit review.
• Conduct zoning reviews for large projects and coordinate staff review with City Planner.
• Supervise and assist with Certificate of Use and alcohol license reviews and issuance processes.
• Prepare staff reports and present to the Board of Adjustment; coordinate administrative requirements.
• Issue determinations and advisory letters on zoning designations and related matters.
• Explain zoning regulations to developers, architects, contractors, and property owners; provide staff guidance on interpretations.
