Job summary

Hiring Our Heroes in Arlington, VA seeks a senior Zero Trust Policy Advisory SME to assess and re-engineer enterprise IT and cybersecurity processes in support of federal Zero Trust mandates. This role translates policy into actionable roadmaps and drives ZT maturity with senior advisory guidance.

You will lead risk-based advisory efforts, collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and support IG FISMA compliance through robust policy artifacts and implementation plans.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in policy analysis, process re-engineering, or senior policy writing with Zero Trust scope.
• Expert knowledge of EO 14028, OMB directives, NIST SP 800-207, NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5, FISMA.
• Experience leading enterprise ZT re-engineering in a federal environment.
• Ability translate mandates into agency-level policy frameworks, roadmaps, and implementation plans.
• Experience supporting IG FISMA metrics reporting or FISMA ZT compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior advisory guidance on re-engineering agency IT and cybersecurity processes to align with Zero Trust across pillars.
• Monitor federal ZT policy landscape and deliver risk identifications and actionable recommendations before deadlines.
• Conduct gap analyses of policy documentation against ZT mandates; develop remediation roadmaps.
• Develop and mature ZT Common Control Catalogs; map controls to NIST 800-53 across pillars.
• Develop updates to ZT Roadmap and Implementation Plan with stakeholder input.
• Apply real-time analysis of process performance data to surface emerging risk areas.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to validate process outcomes and actions.
• Support ZT data calls, audits, and compliance updates; craft timely responses.
• Create new/revised cybersecurity policy documents and SOPs for agency review.
• Provide advisory support to ZT leadership on planning, scheduling, and governance.
• Leverage AI-assisted analysis tools to accelerate advisory work.
