Job summary

Tech Mirrors is looking for a Mainframe System Engineer to maintain and support the z/OS 3.1 software environment in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in mainframe software management and be responsible for system performance, backups, and 24/7 support.

Responsibilities include collaborating with application programmers and providing support to various mainframe groups. This hybrid role requires onsite presence for three days a week.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with z/OS operating system and related software.
• Ability to install and customize software using SMP/E & MF utilities.
• Solid knowledge of mainframe JCL and utilities.
• Ability to write/read/debug programs in batch and online environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system software performance and resource utilization.
• Maintain z/OS 3.1 and JES2 software environments.
• Provide 24/7 software support during off-hours.
• Implement and verify backup and recovery procedures.

Skills

Mainframe software management

IBM and third-party software installation

Configuration of z/OS hardware

Writing/debugging programs

Mainframe JCL knowledge
