Job summary

Preferred Employers Insurance, A Berkley Company, is seeking a Senior Workers’ Compensation Examiner to analyze and manage complex WC claims in a fiduciary role for policyholders. The role includes negotiating settlements, managing subrogation, and ensuring compliance with WCAB rules and state laws.

Responsibilities include reserving, state filings, and coordinating litigation while maintaining cost efficiency and strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years claims management experience.
• Professional certification as applicable to workers’ compensation required.
• WCCP Preferred.
• In depth knowledge of workers’ compensation principles and laws.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and negotiation skills.
• PC literate.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and manages complex workers’ compensation claims.
• Investigates and determines coverage, compensability, and appropriateness.
• Negotiates settlements up to designated authority level and manages subrogation.
• Calculates and assigns reserves and monitors reserve adequacy.
• Coordinates litigation management and cost containment strategies.
• Prepares state filings within statutory limits.
• Ensures timely and cost‑effective claims resolution.
• Maintains professional relationships with clients and vendors.
