Job summary

National Audubon Society is seeking a Senior Policy Manager, Western Water to advance Audubon’s water policy objectives. You will collaborate with national and regional staff and external partners to implement transformative water policy solutions, reporting to the Policy Director, Water.

This hybrid role requires commuting to Audubon’s Washington, DC office and periodic travel, with a focus on coordinating Western United States initiatives and engaging with NGOs and government bodies to advance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in political science, natural resources, or related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in legal, policy or advocacy work.
• Experience with water policy, water conservation, or wildlife issues preferred.
• Strong coalition management and public speaking abilities.
• Knowledge of West water policy trends and regulatory processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide input to senior policy leadership on Western water policy agenda.
• Develop and implement strategies across the Western United States for policy initiatives.
• Support coalitions and NGOs to secure federal funding and policy support.
• Lead advocacy efforts with Congress and federal/state agencies.
• Review and comment on environmental documents and proposed regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on policy issues.
• Produce public policy documents, fact sheets, and communications materials.
• Build relationships with stakeholders including government offices and agencies.
• Assist with grant reporting and proposals as appropriate.
• Travel as needed, roughly once per quarter.
