Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Process Engineer in Brooklyn Park, MN for on-site development of joining and welding processes in a regulated medical device manufacturing setting. The role focuses on laser and resistance welding, with cross-functional collaboration to launch new products and continually improve lines.

You will lead process development, validation, and troubleshooting, and transfer processes to production with operator training and sustained performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in manufacturing process or advanced manufacturing engineering (3+ with advanced degree).
• Experience with laser or resistance welding and thermal joining processes.
• Experience applying DMAIC, root cause analysis, 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams.
• Ability to interpret drawings and write manufacturing documentation.
• Experience in regulated environments and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, qualify joining and welding processes (laser, resistance, micro-joining).
• Lead process development using DMAIC to improve yield and throughput.
• Own welding process documentation and change control packages.
• Collaborate with design, operations, quality, and suppliers on projects.
• Transfer processes from development to production and train operators.
• Plan and execute process qualification and validation reports.
• Perform DOE and data analysis to optimize parameters and decisions.
• Work with equipment vendors on specs, installation, and qualification.
• Implement improvements to meet quality, efficiency, and yield goals.
• Ensure ISO, FDA QSR, and GMP compliance in processes and procedures.
• Provide sustaining engineering support and project leadership.
