University of Illinois System seeks a Senior Web Application Developer to lead design, development, and modernization of enterprise web apps for Facilities & Services in Champaign-Urbana.
You will drive architecture decisions, mentor developers, and promote secure, scalable solutions using Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React, with API integrations across systems.
Under general direction, this position leads the design, development, and modernization of complex enterprise web applications that support Facilities & Services. The role provides technical leadership, supports architectural decision-making, and collaborates across teams to deliver scalable, secure, and sustainable application solutions.
Office Environment
• Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, and application servers such as Tomcat.
• Experience leading front-end modernization efforts using React or similar frameworks.
• Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Experience mentoring developers and supporting team growth.
• Experience working with large‑scale enterprise systems and modernization initiatives.
• Experience developing and deploying applications in containerized environments and working with orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 9/14/2026. The budgeted salary range for this position is $90,000 to $105,000 per year. The final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
This position is eligible for sponsorship for work authorization, except for sponsorship of a new H1B petition that would incur the $100,000 fee.
