Job summary

Sabi in San Francisco is seeking the founding reliability engineering hire to own how our wearable survives in real-world use. You will lead qualification, certification, and field-quality strategy across all subsystems, working with EE, ME, FW, and product design leads, plus contract manufacturers and labs.

You’ll drive reliability by leading FMEA, test-programs, environmental and mechanical testing, and regulatory approvals (FCC, CE/RED, IC, RoHS, REACH).

Qualifications

• 10+ years of reliability engineering for consumer hardware.
• Experience with IEC 60068, IEC 61000, JEDEC, IPC and regional certifications.
• Designing accelerated life tests and Weibull analysis.
• Driving design-for-reliability with cross‑functional leads (EE, ME, FW).
• Managing external labs, certification projects, and CM gates.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability strategy end-to-end: test plans, qualification protocols, accelerated life testing, and certifications.
• Drive design-for-reliability with cross-functional teams and implement FMEA leadership.
• Define and execute qualification programs: environmental, mechanical, wireless, battery, and skin-contact tests.
• Stand up test capability, manage fixtures and pass/fail criteria for releases.
• Lead certifications strategy and execution: FCC, CE/RED, IC, RoHS, REACH with consultants and CMs.
• Collaborate with EE, ME, FW, product design on reliability across subsystems.
• Guide field quality post-launch: MTBF targets, returns analysis, root-cause investigation.
• Build and scale the reliability function as the product grows.
