Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks a Senior Waterfront or Coastal Professional to lead coastal engineering and waterfront projects from our Mount Pleasant, South Carolina office. You will develop client relationships, manage projects, and contribute to marina restoration, climate adaptation, and nature-based solutions.

The role requires 8+ years of coastal consulting experience, strong English communication, and willingness to travel. Proficiency in ArcGIS/AutoCAD and a PE/EIT is preferred.

• Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and overnight travel (required)

Responsibilities

• Develop business and manage clients and projects in coastal projects including beach nourishment, shoreline stabilization, dredging, and environmental restoration.
• Lead task and project management, including investigations, budgeting, schedules, quality and profitability.
• Plan and coordinate detailed phases of waterfront and coastal engineering work.
• Mentor junior staff and manage subcontractors.
• Develop work plans, evaluate data, and write reports.
• Prepare for meetings with clients, regulators, and other parties.
• Travel to client sites and project locations as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop business and manage clients and projects in coastal projects including beach nourishment, shoreline stabilization, dredging, environmental restoration and mitigation, etc.
• Task and project management, including waterfront and coastal engineering investigations and planning work, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
• Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the waterfront and coastal engineering work in marine related projects;
• Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
• Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing;
• Reviewing and managing written document production; and
• Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.
• Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client orcompanyproject or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

• Bachelor's degree in civil, coastal, or environmental engineering, coastal science, or closely related field of study. (required)
• Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
• Professional registration (e.g., EIT or PE) (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• At least 8 years (10+ years preferred) of experience in a consulting environment in the coastal/waterfront industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Exceptional social skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills, in English. (required)
• Proficiency with mapping or drafting software such as ArcGIS or AutoCAD. (preferred)
• Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and overnight travel. (required)
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
• Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
• Valid passport (or eligibility obtain) and ability/willingness to travel internationally to support project work. (preferred)
