Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. is seeking a Water/Wastewater Senior Project Engineer to lead municipal water and wastewater design efforts across multiple offices including Spokane, WA; Boise, ID; Coeur d'Alene, ID; Pocatello, ID; and Salt Lake City, UT.

The ideal candidate will manage complex design tasks, mentor junior staff, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams while ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality deliverables throughout all project phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; PE license required or ability to obtain.
• 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a focus on water and wastewater systems.
• Proven ability to lead design efforts and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience managing projects through all phases of delivery.
• Familiarity with public agency processes, permitting requirements, and regulatory coordination.
• Proficiency with standard engineering tools (e.g., hydraulic modeling, drafting/design software, Bluebeam, spreadsheets).
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and design for municipal water and wastewater systems.
• Manage complex design tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare and oversee engineering deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and design standards.
• Serve as Engineer of Record or technical lead on projects.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff.
• Review work for technical accuracy and quality.
• Build and maintain relationships with municipal clients and regulatory agencies.
