Job summary

Freese and Nichols in Raleigh seeks a Senior Water/Wastewater Master Planning Manager to lead and grow the Southeast US Master Planning team. You will drive client relationships, lead complex planning projects, and coordinate staff across offices, while mentoring professionals and shaping the practice’s direction.

The role combines project leadership with group operations and quality management, with emphasis on demand forecasting, modeling, asset management, and capital planning for utilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering.
• 15+ years of water/wastewater utility or consulting experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, client relationships, budgets, and schedules.
• Strong written and verbal communication, public speaking, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to balance leadership, client development, project delivery, and technical oversight responsibilities.
• North Carolina Engineer (PE) license.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex water and wastewater programs, projects, or utility initiatives.
• Guide groups in demand and flow forecasting, modeling, and CIP planning.
• Provide senior guidance on technical approaches and client communications.
• Coordinate staffing, backlogs, and workload across the group.
• Support business development, proposals, and client negotiations.
• Ensure quality management and adherence to master planning standards.
