Job summary

B&B Concrete in Kansas City is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator to pursue and plan water and wastewater infrastructure projects, developing accurate estimates from bid through handoff.

You will evaluate scope, constructability, risk, and cost, not just takeoffs, and lead bid reviews, prepare detailed budgets, and support subcontractor buyout and project startup to ensure successful execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Experience estimating water or wastewater construction projects.
• Experience with self-performed structural concrete and/or heavy civil construction.
• Ability to read plans and contract documents.
• Strong takeoff, cost analysis, and scope review skills.
• Familiarity with HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or OST.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, process piping, and related infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for self-performed labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and ensure scope coverage.
• Evaluate project phasing, staging, logistics, constructability, and sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, value-engineering ideas, and cost-saving strategies.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed project budgets and lead estimating-to-project-team handoffs.
• Support subcontractor and supplier buyout following award.
• Partner with operations and project teams to help set projects up for successful execution.
