Arcadis is currently searching for a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience on a hybrid role based in Indianapolis.
In this role, you will utilize your expertise and technical knowledge of water/wastewater evaluations, design, and construction to serve as a Lead Technical Designer, Task Manager, and/or Project Manager on local projects. This is a "hands‑on" role with an expectation of leading tasks and projects, managing staff, working directly with clients, and participating in business development activities.
Role accountabilities
- Develop project scope, budgets, and delivery schedules for each assignment, ensuring tasks/projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
- Participate in industry conferences/associations at the local, state, and/or national level via committee memberships, presentations, and/or leadership roles.
- Participate in marketing and business development activities for the water/wastewater market in the region, including development of proposals.
- Work with other senior staff to manage clients in the region.
- Coordinate execution of projects with other disciplines.
- Develop small to large design projects from inception to completion.
- Prepare construction packages (including all deliverables) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of water/wastewater systems for clients.
- Create and manage cost estimates and project schedules.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations & analysis and utilize design software to solve complex issues; CADD software knowledge is a plus, although CADD drafting is not required.
- Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior‑level engineer and design/drafting technical staff.
- Maintain Arcadis’ standards and specifications for municipal water/wastewater design & construction projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- 10 years of progressively responsible experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.

- Staff development and supervision skills, including mentoring junior-level staff.
- Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills.
- Client relationship skills, including preparation and development of proposals and client management experience with a record of delivering engineering projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Ability to travel 10%–20%.
- Experience in water/wastewater plant/facility design and construction administration/oversight projects.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or an MBA.
- 15 years of progressively responsible experience.
- Secondary certification (e.g., WW Operators License, BCEE, PMP, LEED, ENV SP).
- Active participation in regional (local/state) and/or national professional associations.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 – $150,000; actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
