Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Utility Operations Consultant to join our Water Business Group in Colorado.

The role focuses on high-level operational consulting across drinking water, wastewater and potable reuse, driving process optimization, asset management, and regulatory compliance for municipal clients. You will mentor staff, develop SOPs, review designs for operability, and support project delivery across planning and business cases, while building trusted advisory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of water/wastewater/reuse utility ops experience.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Good leadership and organizational skills.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture is required.
• Professional license may be required depending on role.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level operational consulting across drinking water, wastewater, and potable reuse.
• Lead troubleshooting to diagnose process upsets and performance issues.
• Improve operating processes, SOPs, staffing, energy and chemical use.
• Develop asset management strategies with HDR teams.
• Support regulatory compliance efforts across water and reuse programs.
• Advise on potable reuse operations and regulatory frameworks.
• Review designs from an operational perspective for operability and life-cycle cost.
• Support project delivery across planning, business cases, and asset management.
• Prepare proposals and build client relationships.
• Mentor staff and participate in industry organizations.
