Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of water reuse projects as Project Technical Lead, including pilot studies, engineering calculations, drawings, reports, client presentations, and regulatory/funding applications.
• Develop water reuse solutions with clients through site visits, technical training, and workshops on treatment technology, planning, and regulatory frameworks.
• Coordinate project meetings with internal and external teams, owners, contractors, and sub-contractors.
• Prepare and coordinate pilot studies, engineering studies, design reports, and project specifications with construction documents.
• Contribute to design development via sketches, models, diagrams and other visuals.
• Lead and mentor team members, delegate tasks, and manage project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule with project managers and senior engineers.
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control across deliverables and facilitate independent technical reviews of projects.
• Support permitting processes, meet with clients and stakeholders, and review agency requirements.
• Coordinate with regulatory reviews to seek final approvals and contribute to updating project design standards and guidelines.

Stantec, a leading global engineering and design firm, is seeking a Senior Water Reuse Engineer to join our team in California. As a Senior Water Reuse Engineer, you will lead teams, work collaboratively on larger projects, and independently manage smaller projects. Your main objective will be to support the delivery of water reuse projects in California, with the potential to work on projects across North America and internationally. To be successful in this role, you will need to be self-motivated, capable of supervising complex teams, passionate about mentoring staff, and dedicated to advancing the field of water reuse. Projects assigned to you may be complex and diverse, providing you with various opportunities to contribute to advancing the Water Reuse practice. The role also supports pursuing water reuse projects through technical sales and developing technical solutions, all in line with our commitment to excellence.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of alternative water source, advanced water purification, and related water and wastewater projects as a Project Technical Lead. This includes conducting pilot studies, performing engineering calculations, preparing drawings and reports, delivering client presentations, and handling required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies.
• Participate in the development of water reuse solutions with clients. This includes, but may not be limited to face-to-face client interactions, site visits, technical training for client staff, workshop presentations on treatment technology, planning, regulatory frameworks, etc.
• Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
• Lead the preparation and coordination of pilot studies, engineering studies, design reports, and project specifications with construction documents.
• Engage in design development through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
• Manage and lead other team members while working on projects. Complete tasks and delegate specific tasks to other team members as appropriate.
• Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers to develop and manage the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own products and facilitates independent technical review of these projects.
• Conduct quality assessment and quality control on various elements of other projects.
• Assist with the management of the design and construction of projects.
• Participate in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, and interested stakeholder parties and reviewing agency personnel.
• Coordinate with the regulatory review to seek final approval.
• Assist in developing and updating project design standards and guidelines; prepare abstracts and technical papers.
• Participate in strategic planning for the water reuse practice.
