Job summary

Stantec in Denver seeks a Senior Water Resources Project Manager to grow and deliver Colorado water resources practice from the Denver office. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor future leaders, and strengthen client relationships while driving project delivery from planning through construction across Colorado.

You will manage scope, budget, schedule, and risk, while collaborating with agencies and stakeholders to develop resilient, innovative water solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience preferred, including significant water resources planning, design and/or construction experience and at least 5 years managing or coordinating projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver water resources projects and programs across Colorado from planning through construction.
• Serve as Project Manager responsible for scope, budget, schedule, risk management, quality, and client satisfaction.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Colorado water resources clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate technical resources to deliver complex projects.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight for planning studies, engineering analyses, design development, and construction-phase services.
• Support business development activities including strategic pursuits, proposals, interviews, and development of new client relationships.
• Mentor engineers and project managers for development of technical and project delivery capabilities across the Colorado practice.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Senior Water Resources Project Manager to help grow and deliver our Colorado water resources practice from our Denver office. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in the continued growth of Stantec's Mountain West Water Resources sector by helping shape project delivery, mentor future leaders, strengthen client relationships, and grow our technical capabilities.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, client-facing leader who can manage complex water resources work from planning through detailed design and into construction. Work may include stormwater and flood control infrastructure, watershed and master planning studies, drainage improvements, resiliency projects, dam and reservoir-related infrastructure, conveyance systems, and other water resources projects supporting communities throughout Colorado. This person will bring strong technical judgment, practical field awareness, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while mentoring the next generation of engineers and project managers.

This is a role for someone who enjoys pursuing work in a dynamic market and executing work with a team of technical resources for studies, final design documents, and construction-phase services while developing trusted relationships with Colorado clients, agencies, and teaming partners.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver water resources projects and programs across Colorado from planning and preliminary engineering through detailed design, permitting, and construction support.
• Serve as Project Manager responsible for scope, budget, schedule, risk management, quality, and client satisfaction.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Colorado water resources clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate technical resources to successfully deliver complex projects.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight for planning studies, engineering analyses, design development, and construction-phase services.
• Support business development activities including strategic pursuits, proposals, interviews, and development of new client relationships.
• Mentor engineers and project managers for the development of technical and project delivery capabilities across the Colorado practice, whiles supporting adjacent regional objectives.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Demonstrated experience leading water resources projects from planning through detailed design and construction support.
• Strong project and program management experience, including management of scope, budget, schedule, risk, and project teams.
• Experience developing and maintaining trusted client relationships and supporting business development efforts.
• Demonstrated passion for mentoring and developing engineers, project managers, and technical staff.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality oversight for multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively engage clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, or related technical discipline. A master's degree in a related field is beneficial.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience preferred, including significant water resources planning, design and/or construction experience and at least 5 years managing or coordinating projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) license is preferred.
