Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Senior Water Project Manager in Northern California to lead all phases of water projects—from concept development to construction and operations—within our design and process teams.

Your role includes project management, design, planning, operational support, and business development with a focus on water reuse and drinking water projects. You will mentor junior staff and coordinate closely with clients to ensure successful delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering.
• PE license and 12+ years in municipal water treatment or related fields.
• Experience delivering multi-year projects in cross-disciplinary teams.
• Proficient in MS Office software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-starter with attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to present complex issues to nontechnical people.

Responsibilities

• Manage, design, plan, operate and support water projects with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Support and develop proposals for new work.
• Identify, hire, supervise and mentor junior drinking water staff.
• Coordinate directly with clients and internal stakeholders for project delivery.
• Collaborate with internal technical specialists across practice areas.
• Ensure projects meet client expectations, budgets and quality requirements.
• Follow Hazen and Sawyer processes to ensure quality delivery of engineering projects.
• Provide technical leadership for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments on projects of varying size.
• Lead planning, studies, design, and support through construction and operation phases.
• Evaluate progress and recommend changes to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Your role will include project management, design, planning, operational support, and business development with a focus on water reuse and drinking water projects
• Supporting and developing proposal development.
• Helping to identify, hire, supervise and mentor junior drinking water staff.
• Direct coordination and collaboration with clients.
• Coordination with internal technical specialists in all practice areas and discipline design professionals for project delivery.
• Managing projects to meet client expectations, budgets, and quality requirements.
• Following internal Hazen processes to ensure quality delivery of engineering projects for clients.
• Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments on small/medium/large projects.
• Performing planning, studies, design, and support of projects through design, construction, and operation.
• Evaluate progress of the project staff and results obtained and recommend changes to achieve overall project objective

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering
• PE license
• 12+ years of experience in municipal water treatment, water quality, water treatment technology, or manufacturing
• Experience in successfully delivering projects spanning multiple years in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
• Proficient in all MS Office based computer software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
• Self-starter with attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Must be capable of presenting complex issues to nontechnical people
