Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Wastewater Engineer to strengthen our regional water team across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. You will lead design and delivery of municipal wastewater projects from planning through construction, mentoring staff and coordinating with clients and discipline leads.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, collaboration, and growth within a flexible, hybrid in-office culture, with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, chemical or related engineering.
• Typically 10–15 years of progressively responsible wastewater engineering experience.
• Strong municipal wastewater treatment process design experience.
• Professional Engineer license in at least one US jurisdiction with ability to obtain in NY, NJ, PA and MA.
• Ability to travel to clients and project sites throughout the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead wastewater treatment planning, process evaluations and facility designs.
• Develop design criteria, calculations, hydraulic profiles, mass balances, equipment sizing and facility layouts.
• Design and evaluate headworks, primary and biological treatment, nutrient removal, disinfection, biosolids management.
• Provide construction-phase support including submittal reviews and field coordination.
• Mentor junior staff and build client relationships for proposals and business development.
