We are seeking a Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer to support Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) within a classified Secure Wide Area Network (SWAN) environment. This is a hands‑on, senior‑level technical role focused on designing, optimizing, and sustaining resilient enterprise virtualization and storage infrastructure that underpins mission‑critical DoD systems.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in VMware ESXi environments and Dell enterprise storage platforms, with proven experience executing within strict DoD cybersecurity and DevSecOps frameworks.
Design, administer, and optimize enterprise VMware vSphere and ESXi environments supporting classified workloads.
Manage vCenter clusters, resource pools, distributed virtual switches (vDS), and High Availability (HA) / DRS configurations.
Execute host lifecycle management, firmware updates, patching, and major platform upgrades.
Perform root‑cause analysis and performance tuning across compute, memory, and virtual network layers.
Drive VM provisioning automation and support integration with enterprise DevSecOps workflows.
Configure, administer, and optimize Dell enterprise storage platforms (PowerStore, Unity, PowerMax, or equivalent).
Architect and manage high‑performing SAN and NAS environments across iSCSI, Fibre Channel (FC), and NFS protocols.
Implement LUN provisioning, storage tiering, snapshot strategies, and multi‑site replication.
Oversee storage capacity planning, performance optimization, backup integrity, and disaster recovery readiness.
Support infrastructure for both containerized microservices and traditional VM-based workloads.
Assist with hypervisor migration initiatives (specifically VMware to Xen migration support).
Enforce system compliance with DISA STIGs, Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls, and DoD cybersecurity mandates.
Automate operational tasks and infrastructure management using PowerShell, PowerCLI, or Python.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across Windows, cloud, network, and cybersecurity disciplines.
Author and maintain technical architecture documentation, system diagrams, and operational runbooks.
Active DoD Secret Clearance (Must be active upon hire).
DoD 8570 / 8140 IAT Level II Certification (Must hold at least one):
CompTIA Security+ CE
CompTIA CySA+
CCNA-Security
SSCP
GSEC / GICSP
Experience: 10+ years of progressive hands‑on experience in enterprise IT infrastructure engineering.
Core Mastery: Expert‑level administration of VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter in high‑availability environments.
Storage Expertise: Direct hands‑on experience configuring and maintaining Dell enterprise storage platforms.
Defense Standards: Demonstrated experience operating within DoD classified environments and applying DISA STIGs / RMF compliance controls.
Troubleshooting: Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills across integrated compute, storage, and networking layers.
Direct experience executing hypervisor migrations from VMware to Xen environments.
Proficiency in infrastructure automation scripting using PowerShell, PowerCLI, or Python.
Familiarity with NIWC PAC programs or naval operational environments.
