Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Sr Video Intelligence Engineer to advance video understanding. This role will build video-language, summarization, context, and event-reasoning capabilities that improve camera intelligence and customer trust.

You will own VLM strategy, implement video-language models and multimodal embeddings, and partner with AI, platform, product, and app teams to move models from research to production. Hybrid in Seattle, with in-office Mon–Thu and a work-from-home day on Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field with 5+ years of software/ML experience.
• Strong Python software engineering skills and production ML experience.

Responsibilities

• Own video-language understanding and multimodal embeddings strategy.
• Improve AI Video Search, summarization, and false-alert reduction.
• Build systems that generate natural-language descriptions from video.
• Collaborate with AI, platform, product, and app teams to productionize models.
• Develop production evaluation methods for precision, recall, latency, safety.
• Guide architecture decisions across cloud, edge, and hybrid inference.
