Description

About the role:

Angell is seeking a Senior Veterinary Pricing & Revenue Integrity Analyst to lead strategic fee schedule management and strengthen revenue integrity across our Boston and Waltham hospitals.

This newly created role combines veterinary clinical knowledge, hospital operations, pricing strategy, and data analysis. The successful candidate will ensure that Angell's fee schedule is competitive, consistently applied, and reflective of the true cost and clinical value of the services we provide. This is not a traditional finance or data analyst role. The ideal candidate will have a strong veterinary or healthcare clinical/practice management background and understand medical procedures, clinical terminology, and the operational realities of a busy hospital. The ability to engage credibly and collaboratively with DVMs and medical leadership is the most important qualification for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Fee Schedule & Pricing Management

  • Own and maintain Angell's master fee schedule across emergency and specialty services at both locations.
  • Lead the annual competitive benchmarking and fee schedule review, providing findings and recommendations to the CFO and Senior Leadership.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of selected service lines using updated cost inputs, including labor, medications, supplies, equipment, and other expenses.
  • Monitor pricing trends, fee schedule adherence, exceptions, discounts, and potential billing leakage.
  • Identify and resolve pricing inconsistencies across departments, service lines, and locations.
  • Serve as the day-to-day resource for physicians and hospital leaders on pricing and fee schedule questions.
  • Partner with the EMR database team to ensure fee schedule changes are accurately implemented.
  • Conduct competitive market research, including periodic secret shopper activities, and monitor industry resources such as VHMA, AVMA, and BLS data.

Revenue Integrity

  • Analyze transaction-level data to identify discrepancies between established pricing and amounts billed or collected.
  • Monitor discounts, price overrides, courtesy adjustments, and other pricing exceptions.
  • Develop and maintain exception reporting to identify adherence issues and opportunities to improve revenue capture.
  • Partner with Chiefs of Staff and Service Directors to address systemic adherence issues and prevent future revenue loss.
  • Manage, coach, and advise two Pricing Auditors.

Clinical & Operational Partnership

  • Work closely with veterinarians and hospital leadership to understand procedure-level cost drivers, including time, supplies, complexity, staffing, and equipment.
  • Translate clinical and operational knowledge into financially sound and clinically appropriate pricing recommendations.
  • Build trusted relationships with DVMs, Chiefs of Staff, Service Directors, practice managers, and other clinical leaders.

Data & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain pricing dashboards and reporting for the Chiefs of Staff, CFO, and Senior Leadership.
  • Prepare and present an annual pricing and competitive market analysis to Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Provide ad hoc financial and operational analysis to support strategic pricing decisions.
  • Leverage AI and other technology to improve pricing analysis, reporting, and decision-making.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance/accounting, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in veterinary practice management, hospital operations, revenue cycle, pricing, or a closely related healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work credibly and collaboratively with DVMs and clinical leadership.
  • Working knowledge of veterinary or healthcare fee schedules and pricing mechanics.
  • Strong understanding of clinical terminology and medical procedures.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of a newly created function.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and their application to data analysis and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Instinct EMR or a comparable veterinary practice management system.
  • Familiarity with AAHA, VHMA, or AVMA fee survey data and benchmarking methodologies.
  • Experience in a multi-specialty, emergency, referral, or academic veterinary setting.
  • Experience managing or mentoring staff.
  • Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
