Job summary

American Veterinary Group (AVG) is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to serve as a Patient Care Advocate in a General Practice Hospital setting. You will help with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and daily workflow under veterinarian oversight.

The role emphasizes patient care, client communication, and efficient hospital operations with a focus on a patient-first, team-centered environment. On-site availability is required.

Qualifications

• Active veterinary technician license (state-specific requirements apply).
• Prior experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinical setting.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Comfort with evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• On-site presence is essential to support patient care.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients with professionalism and compassion from arrival to discharge.
• Obtain accurate patient histories and document presenting concerns.
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments under supervision.
• Communicate treatment plans, estimates, and discharge instructions under veterinarian guidance.
• Support scheduling and front desk workflows to optimize hospital capacity.
• Assist veterinarians during exams and treatments, including safe restraint.
• Coordinate diagnostic prep, sample handling, and in-house/reference lab testing.
• Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies per hospital protocols.
