This role requires ~8 years in construction/estimation within nuclear, travel up to 10%, and base salary in a defined range with potential annual bonus. Relocation support is provided where needed.

Job Description Summary

As a key member of the Product Team, the Senior Value Engineer (Structural & Construction Focus) is responsible for driving continuous cost optimization and value enhancement across GE Vernova’s Advanced Nuclear portfolio, with a near‑term focus on the BWRX-300. This role involves identifying improvements in features, functions, and processes, and managing those improvements from initial concept through execution. You will serve as a technical influencer, supporting cross‑functional teams to realize business savings.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Challenge & Analysis: Leverage structural engineering and construction expertise to independently evaluate BWRX-300 systems, construction methodologies, and schedules. Challenge existing technical details to identify optimization opportunities.
• Cost Optimization: Develop cost‑saving strategies through rigorous data analysis, parametric modeling, and the creation of innovative approaches to established processes.
• Business Case Development: Build robust business cases to support cost targets and facilitate project negotiations.
• Project Leadership: Champion the value engineering process across functional organizations—including Engineering, Sourcing, and Manufacturing—to secure resource allocation and maintain project pacing.
• Execution Oversight: Manage project plans through the full lifecycle: ideation, development, activity planning, cross‑functional execution, and value realization. Conduct teardowns and "should‑cost" analyses to balance value and cost.
• Systems Architecture Support: Provide cost‑based inputs for technical trade‑off analyses and lead discussions at engineering forums and customer‑facing meetings.
• Process Improvement: Support and develop new processes and documentation in areas where they do not currently exist.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Sciences.
• Minimum of 8 years of construction, estimating, and/or design engineering experience within the Nuclear Industry.

Eligibility Requirements

• Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time, domestically or internationally. Including travel to Wilmington, NC headquarters for routine in‑person work (for remote employees).
• Based in Wilmington, NC is highly preferred;

Desired Characteristics

• Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment and work with high autonomy.
• Proven experience working with engineers, constructors, and fabricators to optimize construction and fabrication methodologies.
• Experience in cost estimating, construction, and/or Nuclear/Gas Turbine equipment (in Engineering, Operations, Procurement, or Estimating).
• Exceptional interpersonal, team‑building, and communication skills. Proven ability to influence stakeholders through both formal channels and informal networks.
• Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously, including milestone tracking, resource management, and issue resolution.
• Demonstrated success in product lifecycle cost analysis (material, manufacturing, assembly, and logistics) and formulating data‑driven business cases.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with a sense of urgency, decisiveness, and a passion for continuous improvement. The ability to "figure it out."

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $118,600.00 and $197,600.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
