Job summary

The New York Times is seeking a Senior Manager of UX Writing to lead the development and execution of user-facing copy across our core news product and extensions like Games, Cooking, Wirecutter and The Athletic.

You will craft clear, engaging copy for customer journeys, mentor a team of writers, and partner with product, design, marketing, engineering, research and editorial teams to grow, engage and retain subscribers.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience writing for product, brand and UX across multiple products, teams or surfaces.
  • A portfolio that shows clear ideas across touchpoints.
  • Ability to write clear, succinct copy for small spaces.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple partners and adjust copy based on data and input from others.
  • Fluent in branding and UX theory and practice.
  • Proficiency using Figma.

Responsibilities

  • Write clear, accurate and engaging UX copy for nytimes.com, the NYT app, and other platforms.
  • Manage inbound UX writing requests and prioritize tasks; assign overflow projects.
  • Maintain quality and consistency across projects; act as brand voice steward.
  • Apply brand voice to wayfinding, paywalls and new features; adapt tone.
  • Mentor in-house writers and lead a small team of freelancers.
  • Use insights and data to influence product copy; collaborate with designers, marketers and engineers.
  • Present rationale to leadership and partners; articulate strategic intent.
