Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior UX Researcher for the Observability domain in Cloud to join a multi-disciplinary UX team and collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to gather insights and shape industry-leading observability tools.

You will study user needs through field studies, interviews, diaries, ethnography, surveys, usability tests, and log analysis, driving impact across product development while mentoring junior researchers in a supportive UXR community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic).
  • Experience with qualitative research methodologies.
  • Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in HCI, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • Preferred: 5 years of UX research on products with executive leadership (Director level and above).
  • Preferred: 3 years of project management in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Preferred: experience with quantitative research methodologies and data analysis.
  • Preferred: research in a highly technical or enterprise product domain.

Responsibilities

  • Drive research strategy by independently identifying, prioritizing, and scoping opportunities.
  • Partner with Product Management and UX Design to define the product roadmap for observability tools.
  • Conduct evaluations to streamline user journeys and mitigate friction points.
  • Deliver research findings to cross-functional stakeholders and translate data into actionable frameworks.
  • Establish benchmarking and measurement programs and mentor junior researchers.
