Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Urban Designer to join our Denver team, leading urban design across diverse projects from transit-oriented developments to civic spaces. You will craft concepts using 2D/3D tools, mentor teammates, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to deliver compelling, sustainable outcomes.

The role demands a Master’s in urban design (or related field), 10+ years of experience, and strong proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit and GIS.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in urban design or related field.
• 10+ years of urban design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Suite and rendering tools.
• AICP certification desired.
• Experience with GIS and strong visual storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the urban design discipline for public and private sector projects.
• Develop design thinking and studio culture across teams.
• Create 2D/3D drawings using digital tools and hand sketching.
• Communicate design concepts clearly in writing and presentations.
• Mentor other urban designers and build client relationships.
• Support business development and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Travel as needed and engage in continuous professional growth.
