Waters Immerse Delaware is a bioprocess lab at the STAR Campus of the University of Delaware. Our team explores next-generation bioprocess solutions using advanced technology in small and large-scale bioreactors and analytical instruments. We collaborate with NIIMBL, universities, and industry partners worldwide, working as part of a multidisciplinary team of biologists, chemists, data scientists, and engineers.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct research and develop analytical characterization methods for biologics manufacturing processes.
  2. Perform cell culture and aseptic techniques for research-grade cellular products.
  3. Operate automated small-scale and bench-top bioreactors.
  4. Maintain lab equipment, manage vendor relations, and keep accurate records.
  5. Collaborate with project teams to develop schedules and milestones.
  6. Work with end users to define requirements, support prototype development, and evaluate proof of concept experiments.
  7. Train junior scientists in lab operations, procedures, and processes.
  8. Foster collaborations with academic and industry partners on technology development.
Qualifications
  1. Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, or related fields.
  2. At least 2 years of hands-on experience with bioreactors for therapeutic protein process development in biopharmaceutical, biotech, or CDMO sectors. Master's with 6+ years industrial experience also considered. Exceptional candidates with relevant Bachelor's and experience may be considered.
  3. Strong background in cell biology, cell culture, and sterile techniques.
  4. Experience with bioreactor systems, cell culture, and PAT. Experience with mammalian cell lines and Ambr bioreactors is a plus.
  5. Motivated with proven research project experience.
  6. Good judgment, initiative, creativity, problem-solving skills, and decision-making ability.
  7. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with researchers.
  8. Thrives in a diverse, innovative environment.
