Job summary
Michigan Medicine’s Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) division seeks a Unix Systems Engineer to manage 2,000+ AIX/Linux servers and OpenShift across on‑prem and cloud. Focus on automation, orchestration, and modernization using Ansible, cloud infrastructure, and compute services, ensuring security, reliability, and cost efficiency.
You will collaborate with analysts and engineers, contribute to architectural standards, lead or participate in projects, and support on‑call rotations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of engineering support for UNIX/Linux architectures (AIX, RHEL, Ubuntu).
- 3-5 years in a related role with customer service and enterprise architecture experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level decisions on enterprise systems architecture across Unix/Linux, Kubernetes, and automation.
- Collaborate with analysts and engineers to gather requirements and design integrated solutions.
- Develop and maintain architecture artifacts; establish standards and guidelines for cloud, container, and compute services.
- Lead capacity discussions and mentor junior staff; participate in on‑call rotation.
- Support on-call, tickets, and operational duties for Unix/Linux/Kubernetes environments.
