SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Senior Universal Banker is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience by serving as a trusted financial resource for current and prospective customers. This role combines relationship management, retail lending, account opening, customer service, and transactional banking responsibilities to support branch growth and deepen customer relationships with the goal of positioning MSB as their primary financial institution.

The Senior Universal Banker proactively identifies customer financial needs and recommends appropriate deposit, digital banking, and lending solutions. This position is responsible for originating, processing, and supporting residential mortgage loan applications while ensuring compliance with all applicable lending regulations and Bank policies. The Senior Universal Banker partners with branch and lending staff to achieve production goals, expand customer relationships, and contribute to overall branch performance.

In addition, this role performs teller transactions as needed, supports branch sales initiatives, and serves as a knowledgeable resource regarding Bank products, services, lending requirements, and regulatory compliance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
  • Customer Relationship Management & Sales
    • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships by providing outstanding service and identifying opportunities to meet customer financial needs.
    • Consult with new and existing customers regarding available Bank products and services and recommend appropriate solutions to deepen relationships and increase customer engagement.
    • Generate new business through referrals, customer outreach, community involvement, and relationship-building activities.
    • Refer customers to other Bank specialists as appropriate.
  • Open and maintain consumer and business deposit accounts, including checking, savings, certificates of deposit, debit cards, digital banking services, and other products offered by the Bank.
  • Process account maintenance requests and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Lending Responsibilities
    • Serve as a lending resource within the branch by identifying lending opportunities and discussing available loan products with customers.
    • Support residential mortgage loan functions in accordance with Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Collect and review required financial information and documentation to ensure complete and accurate loan files.
    • Assist customers throughout the lending process, providing education, guidance, and status updates from application through closing.
    • Maintain current knowledge of mortgage lending regulations, products, underwriting guidelines, and compliance requirements.
    • Work closely with branch management and lending personnel to achieve individual and branch loan production goals.
    • Support portfolio growth while maintaining high standards for loan quality, documentation accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
    • Participate in business development activities designed to increase lending opportunities and expand market share.
  • Operational & Teller Functions
    • Perform teller transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, and related customer service transactions.
    • Balance transactions and maintain operational accuracy in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
    • Assist with branch operations and workflow management as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred.

Minimum of two years of banking, teller, customer service, sales, or financial services experience required.

Experience opening and servicing consumer deposit accounts required.

Demonstrated ability to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate financial products and services.

Working knowledge of banking regulations, lending compliance requirements, and account-opening procedures.

Ability to obtain and maintain any licensing or registration required for loan origination activities.

The employee must demonstrate thorough knowledge of the Bank's products and services, including deposit and lending solutions. The ability to proactively identify customer needs, recommend appropriate financial solutions, and successfully guide customers through the lending process is essential. Strong consultative sales skills and the ability to meet relationship growth, referral, and lending production goals are required.

Interpersonal/Communications Skills

The employee must possess strong communications and interpersonal skills and be able to engage in all types of customer interactions.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with employees and customers of the organization.

Equipment/Tools Skills

The employee must have the ability to use standard office equipment.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to handle both positive and negative correspondence regarding accounts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required sit and/or stand; and to use hands to work with computer equipment. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee in this position will be required to work in indoor environment and come in direct contact with staff and customers. The noise level in the work environment is consistently quiet.
