Job summary

Argo Group is seeking a production underwriter in New York City for a 100% in-office role. You will underwrite new and renewal submissions, market products to brokers, and develop broker relationships across targeted territories.

Travel about 20% is required and a base salary range plus annual bonus is offered. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, five years underwriting experience, and strong negotiation skills.

Job Description

**Summary:**

This is a production underwriting position responsible for marketing, underwriting and processing assigned lines of business. Responsibilities may also include participating in special projects and mentoring less experienced staff.

This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions for our assigned area.
• Ensure our marketing initiatives are achieved and that consistent communication of our products and services are provided to our retail and wholesale brokers.
• Further develop existing broker relations as well as establish new relationshipsin targeted territories to attract business opportunities.
• Actively participate in client and broker meetings.
• Develop and maintain a submission pipeline sufficient to achieve overall production and business mix objectives.
• Use market contacts to bring in business, gather and share market intelligence and cross sell other products.

Qualifications / Experience Required:

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• A relentless desire to continually update your skill level through continuing education and self-development.
• Previous insurance educational work, IIA and CPCU designations are strongly preferred.
• A minimum of five years underwriting experience with authority

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

NYC Pay Range: $113,000 - $165,000
