Job summary

IAT Insurance Group’s TransGuard unit has an immediate opening for an experienced underwriter to join the Moving and Storage Underwriting team. The role requires multi-line P&C risk experience with focus on commercial transportation or inland marine, and some travel is required.

The position offers a hybrid schedule in Overland Park, KS (in-office Mon-Wed; remote Thu-Fri) with occasional travel. The ideal candidate has five years of underwriting experience and strong negotiation and pricing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with five years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Equivalent experience is defined as a minimum of nine or more years of commercial insurance underwriting-related experience.
• Commercial multi-line experience.
• Thorough knowledge of the insurance industry.
• Ability to price risks and understand complex coverage features.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates information to determine risk acceptability in accordance with company guidelines.
• Makes appropriate decisions based on evaluation of underwriting information.
• Prices risks per company standards.
• Communicates and negotiates underwriting and pricing decisions to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Develops and maintains relationships with clients, brokers, and agents to drive new business.
• Documents decisions in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Drives marketing and growth through agency relationships and occasional seminars.
