Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college or university.
  • CPCU or CIC designation preferred or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within the assigned territory and to the home office as required.
  • Demonstrated experience with workers compensation coverage, risk selection, methods and pricing.

Responsibilities

  • Write and retain a profitable book through risk analysis, pricing and servicing.
  • Collaborate closely with vertical team and keep management informed of issues and activity.
  • Develop and implement the vertical business plan with Regional Sales Managers and Business Generation Consultants.
  • Train vertical staff and clients on underwriting appetite and protocols per guidelines.
  • Coach and develop relationships with outside clients, traveling to meet agents and organizations.
  • Provide professional communication and service to policyholders and producers to resolve issues.
  • Provide information and guidance to support staff for processing coverage requests.
  • Assist in gathering competitive intel and monitor market trends.

Overview

The Senior Underwriter within the Specialty Verticals administers the underwriting, servicing of new and renewal accounts for agents and producers assigned within the Staffing/Healthcare Vertical in compliance with company underwriting, authority, and pricing standards. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.



Responsibilities


  • Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing and servicing. Maintains compliance with state filings and adheres to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines. Operate within written authority granted and makes referrals to Vertical Management as required.

  • Collaborates closely with vertical team. Keep peers and vertical management informed of all issues and activity.

  • In collaboration with Vertical Management, Regional Sales Managers and Business Generation Consultants, develop and implement the vertical business plan and share accountability with team in meeting vertical goals.

  • Train vertical staff and clients on underwriting appetite and protocols in conjunction with corporate training guidelines.

  • Coach and collaborate with team to develop, manage and maintain outside client relationships, which will include traveling in territory to meet with agents, producers and organizations. Actively plan and participate in industry events as required such as but not limited to agency or association conventions.

  • Provides professional, timely and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross department staff to successfully resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and territory producers.

  • Provides pertinent information and guidance to support staff required to process coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines.

  • Collaborates with vertical team on reports and update databases as required.

  • Assist in gathering and communicating competitive intel. Keeps current with market trends and demands.

  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or universary

  • CPCU or CIC designation preferred or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the assigned territory and to the home office as required.

  • Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of workers compensation coverage and risk selection, methods and pricing.

  • Demonstrate ability to interpret and analyze data and make an informed, calculated risk decision.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.



Preferred Qualifications


  • 10+ years of workers compensation experience

  • Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning

  • Ability to train, coach and mentor individuals of various backgrounds within area of expertise.



The expected salary range for this role is $87,600-$120,000/year. Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a wide range of factors considered in making the compensation decision, including, but not limited to, candidate skills, experience, education and training, the scope and responsibilities of the role, as well as market and business considerations.
