Job summary

Jobtailor in Maryland seeks a Senior Commercial Underwriter to build strong relationships with agency partners and drive profitable growth. You will apply underwriting guidelines, assess risk, and determine appropriate coverage and premiums for commercial lines including package, auto, workers' comp and umbrella policies.

The role requires a bachelor's degree, 7+ years of underwriting experience, and familiarity with ImageRight and Microsoft 365.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 7+ years of commercial multi-line or package underwriting experience.
• Habitational experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills and Microsoft 365 knowledge.
• Professional designation (CPCU, CIC, ARM) preferred.
• ImageRight experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and foster positive, professional relationships with the company’s agency partners
• Achieve company growth and profitability objectives
• Review loss experience, insurance to value, loss control reports, in addition to other relevant risk factors
• Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of company underwriting guidelines, coverage forms, enhancements, rating plans, and workflow
• Determine the acceptability of commercial lines package, auto, worker compensation and umbrella policies based on company underwriting guidelines
• Use underwriting information such as inspection reports, claims history, and commercial applications to make appropriate underwriting decisions
• Determine appropriate premium levels and coverages for commercial package and umbrella policies
• Responsible for maintaining strong business relationships with assigned agencies
• Meet or exceed all company service standards for underwriting and processing

Requirements

• Bachelors degree required
• 7 or more years commercial multi-line and/or package underwriting experience required
• Habitational experience preferred
• Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft 365
• Completed or in process of completing a Professional Designation such as CPCU, CIC, ARM preferred
• Experience with ImageRight preferred
