Job summary

A global leader in commercial insurance is seeking a Property Underwriter to analyze and underwrite technical risk exposures on new and renewal business. This role requires a college degree and 3-5 years of experience with heavy industrial and technical risks. The successful candidate will maintain an existing account renewal book while developing new business accounts and ensuring high service standards. Qualifications

  • Travel to conduct client and broker meetings on all major renewals.
  • Develop new business account production.
  • Ensure underwriting and service standards are met on assigned accounts.
  • Develop insurance proposals and prepare policies.

Essential Job Functions
  • Analyze and underwrite technical risk exposures on new and renewal business
  • Maintain an existing account renewal book
  • Travel to and conduct client and broker meetings on all major renewals
  • Develop new business account production.
  • Travel to and complete marketing/sales meeting in assigned territories within the Midwest Region
  • Ensure underwriting and service standards are met on assigned accounts
  • Develop insurance proposals, prepare policies and endorsements, obtain Home Office underwriting approvals where needed.
  • Detailed Risk Assessment.
  • Experience in shared and layered accounts- expertise in underwriting complex risks including Foreign fronts.
  • Broker relationship management. Experience in building and managing relationships with key brokers.
  • Purchase reinsurance (only with approval) when needed, review reinsurance certificates and complete reinsurance documentation
  • Arrange account engineering service
Requirements
  • College degree

  • Negotiation skills. Ability to negotiate complex terms and pricing with brokers.
  • Good organization and effective time management -ability to meet deadlines for new business quotes and renewals.
