SYTE Corp is seeking an Experienced Damage Prevention Technician in San Diego, California. The role focuses on accurately locating and marking underground utilities in compliance with state 811 laws and APWA color codes to ensure public safety and infrastructure protection.

Candidates should have 2–5 years of utility locating experience, knowledge of damage prevention practices, and the ability to work outdoors. Preferred certifications include OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid, and NULCA certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years of utility locating experience preferred.
• Knowledge of APWA utility marking standards.
• Strong understanding of damage prevention practices.
• Ability to read construction plans and utility maps.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to 811 locate requests within required timelines.
• Accurately locate and mark underground utilities.
• Interpret utility maps, prints, and GIS systems.
• Operate locating equipment effectively.
• Maintain detailed documentation and digital ticket updates.
• Communicate professionally with stakeholders.
• Follow safety and traffic control procedures.
• Identify hazardous conditions and escalate issues.
• Perform field verification and quality assurance.
• Maintain company vehicle, equipment, and inventory.
