Job summary

Intuitive Surgical seeks a Staff Ultrasound Engineer to lead the development of ultrasound technology for next-generation minimally invasive robotic surgery. Qualifications

• 12+ years of industry experience in ultrasound imaging, acoustics, or signal/image processing.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or related field
• Expertise in ultrasound physics, beamforming, and complete signal chain
• Strong transducer characterization and testing experience (impedance, acoustic tank, hydrophone)
• Experience managing external OEMs and internal engineering teams
• Knowledge of IEC 60601-2-62, IEC 60601-2-37, 21CFR1050.10, MIL-STD-1376

Responsibilities

• Own ultrasound transducer and electrical interface design from concept through commercialization
• Provide hands-on imaging support during laboratory, preclinical, and clinical activities
• Conduct acoustic simulations and finite element modeling to optimize transducer performance
• Establish objective image quality methodology and acceptance criteria using phantoms and clinical data
• Set technical direction for external partners and define multi-year imaging roadmap
