CGS is seeking a highly experienced Senior UI/UX Designer II to join our dynamic team supporting a large Federal agency. This full‑time role offers an exciting opportunity for a creative and results‑oriented professional to lead comprehensive user experience initiatives across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of user‑centered design principles, research methodologies, and modern UI/UX best practices. You will be responsible for managing end‑to‑end design processes, from conducting user research to delivering high‑fidelity prototypes, ensuring the development of intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing digital solutions. Collaborating closely with federal engineers, stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams, you will help define innovative digital experiences that meet user needs and align with federal standards such as 508 compliance and US Web Design System (USWDS). This role requires a proactive self‑starter capable of managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment, mentoring junior designers, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our design services.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree and be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Candidates should have over 10 years of professional experience in UI/UX design, including extensive experience in user research, wireframing, prototyping, and responsive design for web and mobile applications. A strong online portfolio demonstrating research‑driven design decisions and successful project outcomes is essential. The candidate must have expertise in user research methodologies, user‑centered design frameworks, and UI standards, as well as a thorough understanding of the full website development lifecycle. Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is required, along with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite tools such as XD, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Experience with Agile methodologies, data visualization, and designing accessible solutions compliant with federal standards is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and experience mentoring junior team members.
Lead comprehensive UX design efforts, including user research, analysis, and system evaluation to inform design strategies. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of websites and applications across various federal clients in a fast‑paced environment. Conduct all phases of user research, including interviews, surveys, and affinity mapping, to gather insights that shape user interfaces and experiences. Collaborate with federal engineers, stakeholders, and team members to define project requirements, develop wireframes, storyboards, and site maps, and ensure designs meet user needs and business goals. Create scalable design assets and resources to facilitate team collaboration and expand creative services. Develop high‑fidelity prototypes and UI mockups from initial concepts through final delivery, ensuring consistency and adherence to federal accessibility standards. Establish rapid feedback loops with clients and users to refine designs iteratively. Evaluate existing systems to identify UX issues and recommend improvements, ensuring solutions are user‑friendly, accessible, and compliant. Mentor junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design environment. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, tools, and best practices to continually enhance design quality and efficiency.
