The role emphasizes technical leadership, client engagement, and growth of the tunneling practice. Ideal candidates will have a PE license, 15+ years in tunneling, and a track record of leading large teams, BD contributions, and industry collaboration.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Engineering with 10 years of relevant tunneling experience, including 2 years in leadership.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• 15+ years of experience in large-scale tunneling and underground projects preferred.
• Master's degree in engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams on large, complex tunneling projects from concept through completion.
• Oversee delivery, ensuring safety, quality, budget and schedule objectives are met.
• Collaborate with other AECOM units to deliver integrated solutions and drive innovation.
• Mentor and develop tunneling staff and participate in recruitment.
• Represent the team at industry conferences and lead technical papers.

Join AECOM's dynamic tunneling team as a Senior Tunnel Manager / Regional Tunnel Practice Leader in Dallas, TX, Oakland, Ca, Sacramento, CA, or Seattle, WA. We are seeking an accomplished professional to lead complex tunneling projects and contribute to the growth of our internationally recognized tunneling practice. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Project Leadership & Technical Excellence

• Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams on large, complex tunneling projects from concept through completion
• Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality, safety, budget, and schedule objectives are met
• Collaborate with other AECOM business units to deliver integrated solutions
• Drive innovation and best practices across our tunneling portfolio

Technical Proficiency

• Advanced knowledge of tunnel construction methods and support system designs: TBM, drill and blast, sequential excavation, etc.
• Experience leading teams using industry-standard analysis and design methodology and software tools
• Experience planning and directing field investigations, engineering analyses, deliverable preparation and packaging, and field construction phase services

Business Development & Client Relations

• Build and maintain strategic client relationships that fuel our practice growth
• Identify new business opportunities and contribute to proposal development and business development initiatives
• Represent AECOM at industry conferences and technical forums to enhance our market presence

Team Development & Mentorship

• Mentor and develop talent within our tunneling team
• Participate in recruiting efforts to attract top-tier professionals
• Contribute to our collaborative, learning-focused culture

Industry Leadership

• Author and present technical papers at leading industry conferences
• Stay at the forefront of tunneling technology and methodologies
• Support cross-regional and international project teams on complex assignments

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
• Professional Engineer license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in engineering or related discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in engineering of large-scale tunneling and underground infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
• Strong client relationship and business development skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Geotechnical or Structural Engineering license.
• Experience with design-build or alternative delivery methods.
• Experience with international tunneling standards and practices.
• Active engagement in professional organizations.
• Published technical papers in tunneling or related fields.
