Job summary

Bank of Marin seeks a highly experienced Trust Officer to manage and grow a portfolio of fiduciary and agency relationships while delivering exceptional service to clients, beneficiaries, and professional advisors.

The role combines fiduciary administration with relationship management and business development, serving high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, and estates. You will collaborate with portfolio managers, attorneys, CPAs, and bank partners to drive wealth management solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in trust administration, fiduciary services, private banking, wealth management, estate administration, or related financial services role.
  • Experience managing client relationships and administering fiduciary accounts.
  • Strong understanding of fiduciary principles, trust administration, estate settlement, and investment management concepts.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and client service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of trust, agency, investment management, and custody accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, CPAs, and other professional advisors.
  • Deliver proactive, high-touch service and address client needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct ongoing client reviews and identify opportunities to deepen relationships and enhance the client experience.
  • Administer trust, estate, and agency accounts in accordance with governing documents, fiduciary standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Interpret trust agreements, wills, and related legal documents.
  • Review and coordinate distributions, transfers, account transactions, and other fiduciary activities.
  • Partner with internal and external experts on trust, estate, tax, and legal matters.
  • Identify and mitigate fiduciary, operational, compliance, and reputational risks.
  • Participate in annual administrative and investment account reviews.
  • Coordinate with portfolio managers and investment professionals to ensure client portfolios remain aligned with objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Review investment performance and client circumstances and assist with implementing appropriate changes when needed.
  • Develop new trust and wealth management business through referrals, networking, and community involvement.
  • Participate in meetings with prospective clients and centers of influence.
  • Collaborate with partners across the Bank to identify opportunities and deliver comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Support achievement of department growth, revenue, and asset goals.
