Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Transportation Roadway Engineer to join our Highway & Rail Team in Keene, NH.

You will lead complex highway design projects, oversee technical reports, and mentor junior staff, while collaborating across disciplines to deliver sustainable transportation solutions. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of experience, a PE license, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 10+ years progressive engineering experience; roadway or hydraulic design preferred.
• NHDOT experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proficient with engineering software like MicroStation/OpenRoads and modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of complex highway designs, technical reports, and specifications.
• Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues across multidiscipline transportation projects.
• Lead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other departments to deliver sustainable solutions.
• Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring on-time delivery within budget.
• Mentor junior engineering staff, providing technical reviews and support.
• Prepare proposals and deliver external presentations to clients and regulatory agencies.

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Transportation Roadway Engineer to join our Highway & Rail Team as a technical leader and mentor in Keene, NH. In this key role, you will serve as a technical leader and mentor-driving quality across highway initiatives, supporting collaborative project teams, and helping deliver practical, sustainable solutions. What You'll Do:

• Lead the technical execution of complex engineering designs, technical reports, and specifications for various highway projects including roadway modeling, roundabouts, and signal design
• Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues across multidiscipline transportation projects
• Lead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutions
• Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraints
• Guide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical reviews and support
• Deliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agencies

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
• Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience required; roadway or hydraulic design experience preferred
• NHDOT experience preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practices
• Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, etc.)
• Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$120,000 - $135,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
