Job summary

Alta Planning + Design in Minneapolis is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead multi-disciplinary transportation projects focused on livable, equitable, and resilient communities. You will guide design through construction, manage budgets, and mentor engineers across disciplines.

The role offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule with strong emphasis on collaboration across planning, design, and data analysis, and opportunities to impact communities nationally.

Qualifications

• 12+ years as a Transportation Engineer; 5+ years as a Project Manager; 3+ years managing staff
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• P.E. license or TE licensure
• Experience in active, non-motorized transportation
• Experience preparing Plans, Specifications and Estimates for roadway projects
• Ability to guide staff and manage internal expectations
• Demonstrates initiative to enhance Alta’s market position
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel as needed
• Excellent ethics, leadership, accountability, and decision-making
• Good presentation skills
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, MS Project or equivalent, AutoCAD or MicroStation
• Proficiency in ERP and project management tools

Responsibilities

• Manage transportation projects from design through construction with budget responsibility
• Implement best practices to improve delivery efficiency
• Mentor staff and support professional development
• Collaborate with planning, landscape, data and other disciplines
• Prepare schedules, budgets and scopes of services
• Balance workloads across projects
• Support regional leadership in business development
• Ensure quality control over team deliverables
